Manitoba #2
June 2024 – ESNAM 13
Carte Blanche, graduation project for the 3rd year of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts de la Marionnette.
Adapted from the play Manitoba by Romane Nicolas (éditions :esse que)
To escape the police, two young women flee into a vast primeval forest in Manitoba, Canada, armed only with a survival manual, a few weapons and their deep desire to (over)live. Inspired by real events, the play plays with genre codes and humor, propelling us into the land of Absurdity. This side-step into this foreign, raw forest, neither good nor bad, upsets the runaways. It’s a forced adaptation, a life that burns so brightly that in the end all that’s left is the land that breathes and makes its name ring out: Manitoba. Tragi-comedy in Technicolor!
