Students from the 14th class (third year) are presenting the work they have produced under the guidance of director Rémy Barché and actor Alann Canon-Baillet, based on Laurene Marx’s play Borderline Love, following a seven-week workshop that brings to a close a course in ‘acting and interpretation’ which began in the first year of the programme.
In this monologue, without puppet, the students take turns playing the role of a young woman, who suffers from borderline personality disorder, as she recounts her childhood and adolescence in a violent family environment to a writer.
A young woman confides her life to a writer. Her lover has left her to escape her dangerous and violent love – the only kind she has ever known – and she wants to find the words to speak to him and make him understand. She was brought up by a misogynistic, alcoholic and dangerous father, and a mother who was a victim of her own beauty and the constant harassment of men. She wants to tell the story of how women pass love on to one another like a disease, through a lifetime of abuse and time spent more on surviving than on living. Borderline Love will be her final act to win back the man she loves. It must become a play so grand and unforgettable that he will be unable to ignore it and will inevitably forgive her.
