Cie Intramusculaire – Raphaëll Dupuy (France)
When an artist is accused of an act that is punishable by law, is it possible to appreciate their work without the person’s actions immediately coming to mind? *Cas de Figure* explores the moral dilemma raised by the question of separating the person/artist from the work. The show sparks a discussion about the ways we consume art and how we perceive the individuals who create it. Raphaëll operates on the premise that we can separate the artist/person from the artwork and invents the concept of *Cas de Figure*, a television show that allows celebrity guests to meet the personification of their works. “Didn’t Dalida ever dream of meeting Gigi l’Amoroso? On *Cas de Figure*, it’s possible.” What leads us to imbue artists with a special aura? Can we downplay the gravity of an act in the name of extraordinary talent or a remarkable work of art? To what extent do human actions influence how works of art are received?
