Les lettres de mon père

Compagnie Gare Centrale
(Belgium)

Agnès Limbos, founder of the Belgian company Gare Centrale, immersed herself in the letters her father sent to his children from the Congo. Her parents had entrusted the children, at the time of independence in 1960, to their uncle, a priest in Belgium. She turned these letters into an artistic object with universal appeal. While the 8-year-old Agnès, traumatised by the separation, waits impatiently for each precious letter to arrive, the 70-year-old Agnès is astonished to read, between the lines written by her father, all the paternalism and racism contained in the missionary spirit. So the mini Agnès puppet and the great Agnès puppeteer comfort each other, against a backdrop of historical episodes.

Tout les monde est là

Rodéo Théâtre
(France)

The starting point is the figure of director Simon’s maternal grandfather. He didn’t know him, but he came across him in the family stories: a crazy and fascinating life on the fringes of traditional family models. In the mirror of this story is the one that is being built: Simon is the recent father of twins born through surrogate motherhood in the United States. To enter into the fiction, author François Cervantes proposes to project the story 40 years later. The daughters, now grown up, will summon the grandfather to the stage, and with him an incredible family saga spanning four generations.

La (nouvelle) ronde

Théâtre de Romette
(France)

Based on La Ronde by Arthur Schnitzler. After Hen, Johanny Bert is continuing his theatrical exploration of contemporary sexual identity and love. His aim is to explore the subject in greater depth through a more political and societal approach to theatre. Collaboration with a contemporary playwright is always at the heart of his work, combined with an aesthetic search for puppet bodies.
