Têtes Chercheuses: What is the relationship between knowledge transfer, foundational techniques, and an introduction to creative practice in higher education in the puppetry arts?
- Thursday 17 September, 15:00-17:00, Musée de l'Ardenne
2h
PART 3:
WHAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE TEACHING OF FUNDAMENTAL TECHNIQUES AND INTRODUCTION TO CREATION IN HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE PUPPET ARTS?
Since 1987, the initial higher education program in puppetry arts offered at ESNAM has combined the teaching of fundamental techniques with creative practice. How does the teaching of fundamentals impact creativity, and vice versa? In what spaces, at what times, and in what forms is creativity present in the curriculum? Initiated by the PIM, this project was selected as part of the 2025 call for proposals under the Ministry of Culture’s Research and Promotion in Higher Education Institutions for the Performing Arts (REVES) program. Spanning the 2025–2026 academic year, it engaged students and artist-educators at ESNAM.
Presented by Sarah Andrieu, Academic Director at ESNAM, and Laurette Burgholzer, performing arts researcher and visual artist
In conversation with: Oriane Maubert, associate professor of performing arts, University of Strasbourg; Julika Mayer, co-director of the puppetry department at the Stuttgart State University of Music and Performing Arts (HMDK); Romain Piana, professor at Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3 University, director of the Institute of Theater Studies
