Une Traversée
Compagnie Belova-Iacobelli
(Chile – Belgium)
Une Traversée depicts a child crossing the disaster through play, where in her fiction, reality is revealed unvarnished. In the absurd logic of fantasy, the origins of discourse are explored and the manipulation of words is reversed, losing its power. Starting with the child in a migration situation, the show creates a link with the reality that concerns us all. The chapters of La Traversée du miroir take us through the stages of adaptation to today’s world in a playful, offbeat way.

Pro bono publico
Blick Théâtre
(France)
In a space inspired by art brut and constantly transfigured by an exalted visual artist, a character retraces, in his own way, a whole part of the history of French psychiatry, mixing personal stories, patients‘ words, carers’ diaries, snippets of radio broadcasts, archives and quotations. While he tries to order his thoughts, the other gives shape to the chaos. The duo’s friction between voice and matter, thought and body, plunges us into a major investigation into psychiatric hospitals in France and their resonance with the way we live as a society.

Les dernières hallucinations de Lucas Cranach l’Ancien
Compagnie Mossoux-Bonté
(Belgium)
Inspired by the world of the German Renaissance painter Lucas Cranach the Elder, the show explores the troubled attitudes of characters haunted by convulsive memories of a previous existence. Figures appear behind a trompe l’oeil wall pierced with windows, creating tableaux vivants in an atmosphere dominated by humour, eroticism and the mystery of presence.

Jean-Clone
Aïe Aïe Aïe
(France)
After Ersatz and Supergravity, Julien Mellano has taken on a new subject of anticipation in the wake of his cross-cutting interest in science and fiction. He takes a closer look at cloning, and more particularly at the fantastic figure of the human clone, by taking a team of Jean-Clone into a biotechnological imbroglio that is as obscure as it is improbable.

Richard III
Compagnie La Poupée qui Brûle
(France)
Richard, the last brother of King Edward IV, Duke of Gloucester, was born deformed and crippled. Consumed by ambition, he racked up a string of murders and made his way to the throne of England, becoming King Richard. Richard III is the bloodthirsty rise and fall of a tyrant born out of the chaos of an era troubled by civil war. This adaptation of Shakespeare’s work will show the balance of power, manipulation, betrayal and revolution through a combination of dance, acting and puppetry.

Les Irréels 16e personnage
Compagnie Créature – Lou Broquin
(France)
Les Irréels was imagined by Lou Broquin and first presented at FMTM in 2015. This strange and gentle tribe makes you want to take your time and get in touch with these hybrid beings, but also with ourselves. To mark their 10th anniversary, Les Irréels have created a sixteenth character in the image of the Ardennes for Charleville-Mézières: the Cultivateur de lendemains. ‘In his hut, the Cultivateur de lendemains shelters the plants of tomorrow. Plants that, with his care, have learned resilience and acquired healing powers. The seeds and cuttings he grows will allow nature to regain its rights and rebuild itself.

L’Oiseau de Prométhée
Les Anges au Plafond
(France)
A show for Europe. It is about the economic and financial crisis that has not loosened its grip on contemporary Greece, not only about its genesis and symbolism but also, and perhaps above all, about what it means for the future. Across the vast expanses of time that separate them, two Greeks face each other on the stage: one mythological and eternal, the other contemporary and very real.

Shadow of my belonging
Compagnie L’Étendue
(France)
For many years, Renaud Herbin has been exploring the physical confrontation between puppet and puppeteer, and in this new creation he tackles the themes of exile and displacement. The puppet becomes like a brother or sister, like a doubling of oneself. Like the shadow of oneself.

L’aventure de l’écrasement
Granit Suspension
(France)
Blanche Lorentz writes shows to experiment with her thoughts. She loves theories, she loves concepts, but she needs something concrete. So she tries everything. For this creation, the puppeteer-author has been thinking out loud about mental load. She experimented with weight with over 200 kg of pebbles. It’s an imposition session. Crushing a body, yes, but with care.

Maison de Poupée
Plexus Polaire
(France – Norvège)
Plexus Plaire director Yngvild Aspeli has chosen to use the masterpiece Une maison de poupée as a mirror. To bring out the way in which stories from the past intertwine to weave the present. Yngvild Aspeli’s aim is to develop a visual universe that brings to life the most deeply buried feelings, using human-sized puppets on stage. It’s a Doll’s House that shakes, shatters and releases old spectres.
