ARTCENA is expanding its ‘Panoramas’ collection with a new feature dedicated to the art of puppetry. This collection offers multimedia resources focusing on the various disciplines of the performing arts. Designed by specialists, these features trace the key milestones in their history whilst providing access to a rich selection of audiovisual content.

This new issue of Panorama, for which Raphaèle Fleury (Gigogne) has been responsible for the editorial concept and content, invites readers to discover the diversity, inventiveness and dynamism of contemporary puppetry in France through a range of thematic and historical perspectives:

  • A different kind of theatre: expanding the possibilities of the stage
  • Puppetry in all its forms
  • Three centuries of experimentation: puppetry as a laboratory for theatre
  • The continuation and reinvention of a popular tradition
  • The trades of an art form at the crossroads of all disciplines
  • Being a puppet theatre audience member: a mix of experiences
  • A structured sector serving an art form with unique production conditions

This Panorama is free to access and features nearly 200 images and video clips, offering an immersive journey into the heart of contemporary puppetry’s practices and challenges.

A project initiated and supported by the Latitude Marionnette network, in partnership with the Mouffetard-CNMa.
With contributions from numerous artists, companies and organisations, who helped to gather images and audiovisual resources.
