Documentation center

The documentation center has an online catalogue listing most of its resources. It comprises :

  • Books: around 12,000 books on puppetry and the performing arts.
  • Grey literature: some 100 conference proceedings, master’s theses and doctoral dissertations.
  • Manuscripts/scripts: around 300 autograph or typescript manuscripts from the 19th and 20th centuries, plus the typescripts of Edward Gordon Craig, acquired by the Institute in 2001.
  • Periodicals: around 300 periodical titles on puppetry and the performing arts (representing some 8,000 issues).
  • Audiovisual documents: around 3,000 documents (recordings of shows, end-of-course presentations, work by École Nationale Supérieure des Arts de la Marionnette (ESNAM) students, animated films, interviews and documentaries).
  • Iconographic documents: around 56,000 items, in various physical formats (paper prints, slides, negatives, postcards and posters) and digital formats.
  • Documentary files: some 7,000 files on companies, festivals, permanent theaters, schools and museums in France and around the world, as well as thematic files.
  • Puppet collections: 1,500 objects
