The Pôle International de la Marionnette – Jacques Félix supports research. It provides long-term support to artists and companies at national and international level, through residences for research.


2024

Brice Coupey (France): research into the transmission of girdle puppetry, with a view to writing a collection of exercises for practicing this technique.

Renaud Robert (France): finalization of preparations for the online publication of Temporal family documents on the PAM, scheduled for 2021.

Daria Holovchanska (Ukraine/Poland): the beginnings of a thesis on the history of object theater, and the development of her teaching methodology in this field as a new assistant to a university professor.

Clothilde Cazamajor (France): research for his thesis entitled Puppet arts and the written press: on the trail of cultural life in Montreal and Paris (1948-1958).

Laurette Burgholzer (France/Germany): research on pedagogy as part of a research project on professional training in contemporary puppet theater, which will culminate in the publication of a book.

Anna Ivanova-Brashinskaya (Finland): research for his book In the Beginning There Was a Puppet, on various aspects of puppet theater.

Gabriel Hermand-Priquet (France): research into the transmission of girdle puppetry and the history of Chinese girdle puppetry to flesh out the BatYsse exhibition on Gaston Baty and his own artistic and educational practice.


2023

Daria Holovchanska (Ukraine/Poland): research for his dissertation on Ezequiel Garcia-Romeu and the French puppet theater of the 1970s-1980s.

Alissa Mello (England): transhistorical research into the place of women, gender and identity in Punch and Judy’s performances as part of “The Judy Project: a Critical and Historical Investigation of Women and Puppetry from the Eighteenth to the Twenty-First Century (JDEWP)”.


2022

Cristina Grazioli (Italy): research into the link between puppetry and light, delving into Richard Teschner’s work on the subject, and research into Harry Kramer as a reference for Mario Ricci.

David Girondin-Moab (France): applied research residency with part of his team as part of their research on the augmented spectator and virtual reality, supported by the IIM as part of David Girondin-Moab’s application to the DGCA call for projects, in connection with the “Exploring the performative, expressive and dramaturgical potential of materials, artifacts, scenography and scenic devices” research axis of the ICiMa chair.

Alain Lecucq (France): continuation of the work on the history of paper theater begun in 2021, and preparation for publication of a multilingual glossary on PAM.

Claire Heggen (France): continue work on his illustrated alphabet book begun in 2021.


2021

Claire Heggen (France): the beginnings of work on his illustrated primer with a view to publication on the PAM, supported by the ICiMa Chair as part of the “Multilingual Terminology” project.

Antonella d’Ascenzi (Spain): research into the link between string puppetry and dance to create a show combining these two techniques, Filar, premiering in 2022.

Juliette Masson (France): research as part of his Master’s degree on the link between puppet and puppeteer and on the illusion of the living object.

Arnaud Louski-Pane (France): set up a protocol for producing puppet-building tutorials, produced a few examples and published them on the PAM as part of the ICiMa Chair’s “Life cycle of materials” project, in collaboration with Noémie Géron and Fleur Lemercier.

Jean-Marc Matos (France): research into robots, automata, animated sculptures and the link between human and machine, for the creation of his show *MAGH, combining dance and robotics.

Fleur Lermercier (France): applied research residency with part of his team as part of his “Dark Matter” research project, supported by the ICiMa Chair as part of the “Materials Life Cycle” project.

Renaud Robert (France): the beginnings of the publication of documents linked to the Temporal family on the PAM and research into the history of this family, a project supported by the DGCA’s Research mission.

Moti Brecher (Israël): research into the history of Israeli puppet theater, in a country where there is no tradition as there is in Europe.

Bettina Girotti (Argentine): research as part of her thesis on the history of Argentine puppetry between the 1940s and 1960s and its transdisciplinary aspect (in particular its links with cinema).

Eleanor Margolies (Angleterre): research to document his translation of Christian Carrignon’s Le théâtre d’objet into English.

Alain Lecucq (France): preparation of a book on the history of paper theater, including a multilingual glossary, supported by the IIM as part of Alain Lecucq’s application to the DGCA’s call for projects, in conjunction with the ICiMa Chair’s “Terminology” project.
