Research

The ICiMa chair – Innovation Cirque et Marionnette – was a research facility jointly supported by the Centre national des arts du cirque and the Institut International de la Marionnette from 2016 until 2023.

The most recent areas of research explored by the Chair were :

  • The life cycle of performing arts materials (design and construction of puppets, apparatus and scenography, life on tour, heritage conservation and restoration);
  • Gesture and movement: research into notation and creation of scores;
  • Multilingual terminology for puppetry and circus arts.
