Maxence Moulin in “Graduate recidency” from 16 to 20 June 2025

Maxence Moulin is in Graduate residency for the creation of “-196°C”, a human-sized puppet show dealing with the issues of mourning and cryonics.
After graduating from ESNAM in June 2024, Maxence Moulin founded the Capillotractée Company, which he decided to establish in Caen, in Normandy, his region of origin. Since September 2024, and for a duration of three years, he becomes the sponsored artist of Le Sablier, Centre National de la Marionnette d’Ifs. He is also part of the Millenial Academy, a ten-week residency on the theme of ‘Art and Science’, organised as part of the city of Caen’s millennium celebrations in 2025. It’s an opportunity for him to broaden his perspective and learn about other practices explored through this series of workshops. At the same time, he continued his collaboration with the company Les Anges au Plafond and joined the artistic training centre at the CDN Normandie-Rouen.
This residency on -196°C will be an opportunity to continue researching the text, co-written with Mélanie Le Moine, as well as writing for the stage by exploring the first puppet prototypes, fresh from the workshop. This will also be a key stage in the process of creating a mock-up of the show and sketching out its outline. They also plan to work with musician Philippe Billoin’s initial sound material, to experiment with the interaction between music and puppet movement. Maxence is accompanied by Delphine Jeanne and Luana Montabonel, who also graduated from ESNAM’s 13th class last June.
