Let’s celebrate World Puppetry Day! Saturday, 21 March
The Pôle International de la Marionnette – Jacques Félix is joining UNIMA, the event coordinator, and cultural actors in Charleville-Mézières to celebrate World Puppetry Day.
This edition will showcase African puppetry, represented by the great Malian master Yaya Coulibaly, an internationally renowned puppeteer and storyteller.

- Guided visits – “Équipées belles”
At 10am., 1am and 12pm (duration: 1 hour)
Discover behind the scenes at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts de la Marionnette during guided visits led by the team.
- “Shadows & Objects” workshop – for children aged 7 and above
From 2pm to 5pm (duration: 3 hours)
A creative workshop led by Elisza Peressoni from the En Liesse company, introducing young children to the magic of shadows with ordinary objects.
- Encounter with Yaya Coulibaly
From 3pm to 5.30pm
A masterfull lecture exploring the history and uses od puppetry in Mali, followed by a screening of Christian Lajournard’s film « Yaya Coulibaly, marionnettiste et magicien » de Christian Lajoumard.
Followed by a drinks reception.
Thursday, 26 March – Charleville-Mézières Theatre
From 7:15pm to 7:45pm (duration: 30′)
- Puppet aperitif – « Barionnette »
The ESNAM students present three short shows, an artistic appetiser before the performance of « Subjectif lune ».
