Following the success of Giraffe Mons, the artists from the Kharkiv Theater Academy are returning to Charleville-Mézières with Viburnum Pipe, much to our delight.

Inspired by Oksana Zabuzhko’s story, which reimagines the folk tale The Tale of the Strange Flute, the production resonates with particular intensity against the backdrop of war. Rooted in Ukrainian folklore and traditions, this dark fable traces the fate of two sisters in a feminine variation on the myth of Cain and Abel, questioning the origins of evil at the heart of humanity.

Blending poetic horror with theatrical ritual, the production captivates with its mystical atmosphere, enigmatic imagery, and spellbinding songs, set to texts by Kharkiv-based poet and artist Dina Chmuzh.
