Reading / performance by students

A reading/perfomance by students of Martin Crimp’s ‘Not one of these people’, to close the ‘acting’ workshop led by Remy Barché and Alann Baillet (Tendre est la Nuit company).
Translation: Claudie Sacksteder
‘58. I notice that the men in my shooting club become largely defensive when the question of consent is raised.’
Written during the Covid pandemic by one of the great figures of British theatre, this text is made up of 299 lines spoken by 299 different characters. They are voices, like the ones you might hear in a café, on the radio or on the internet, but perhaps they are also inside us.
With humour and cruelty, their arrangement becomes the echo chamber of contemporary ‘societal toothaches’, as the author puts it. Working with this text will help consolidate the fundamentals of acting.
