Development of a professional puppetry arts sector in Africa
Since 2015, the Institut International de la Marionnette has nurtured a partnership with the Djarama association and the Ecole Nationale des Arts of Dakar in Senegal. Several young graduates have been invited to lead workshops (construction, manipulation, performing) with secondary school children. At the end of October 2019, two graduates from the 11th ESNAM class created a show with fifteen young people.
We have set ourselves a longer-term objective with Djarama : the creation of a professional sector of puppetry arts in Senegal, which will benefit African artists.
The project focuses on the organisation of professional artistic worshops and higher-level education. A first two-year training phase will train puppeteers capable of teaching the basics of puppetry to young students in Dakar.

UNIMA Training Commission
The director of the Institute is a member of the UNIMA Training Commission. Since 2015, this committee has been organizing an international PRO-VOCATION meeting which allows for exchange in teaching practices among the many puppeteering schools. Conferences, workshops, and performances alternate, providing food for thought for the participants. A global network is soon to materialize during the next meeting which will be held in Beijing in September 2020.

International cooperation
In the planning stage: exchanges with foreign schools, prefiguring the establishment of a network of European schools of which the Institute will be the leader.

Cooperation with Quebec
The main objective is to develop exchanges between the students of UQAM of Montreal (DESS in Contemporary Puppet Theatre) and those of ESNAM and the company Les Sages Fous, in anticipation of a place for research and artistic residencies in Trois Rivières.
